I went through a phase not too long ago where I wasn’t super selective in my wardrobe shopping. I bought whatever fit me and/or was cheap regardless if I really liked it. I lost my style. Thanks to some much appreciated guidance from one of my bffs (thanks Jenna!), I’m back on track to finding it, and making smarter clothing choices.
I have gotten rid of tons of bags of clothes over the past year, some items were too big, some too small, and some just blah. I had put off going through my jeans until this past weekend, and that started me me on a quick tour of the rest of my closet. Four hours later, I had amassed 10 (!!!!) bags of clothes to go to Goodwill.
I can’t believe how many bags of clothes I have gotten rid in the past year and half. When buying clothes (and anything else), I need to remember that if I don’t absolutely love it, then I’m not buying it. Because what happens is that I’ll wear it two or three times, I won’t feel special, and I’ll have another trip to Goodwill in my future.
As the weather turns warmer, I’m excited for some summer dresses and skirts. And I will only buy items that help me define my style, and that I love. I can’t wait to do some shopping! I do have lots of new found closet space after all!
Had lots of fun shopping on Sunday and returned home with lots of great finds!
First up, smaller sized ear buds designed for women’s ears! The standard apple ear buds and most other brands never stay in my ears, whether I’m at the gym or just sitting still. My most recent pair went behind my ear, but the ear bud piece only kinda hovered over my ear, but they worked. The rubber covering on this pair came out, so it was time for a replacement. And this model from yurbuds caught my eye. They come with two size ear pieces, and I tried the smaller of the two this morning at the gym. And THEY STAYED IN PLACE!! On the treadmill and on the elliptical. Totally made my day. And they are available in lots of fun colors!
Loafers are in right? I found this cute black patent pair by Ann Klein at DSW. These would be super cute with a pair of ankle length black pants for work once the weather warms up. They were also available in the store in navy, red, and beige patent. (Please ignore my ugly, big feet in this photo.)
And lastly, the best deal of the day, but also slightly impractical. Originally $70, I got this yellow and white striped bed skirt by Kate Spade from Beth, Bath, and Beyond for $4.23 after markdowns and a coupon. Awesome score, right? The only potential issue is that this bed skirt is for a king sized bed, and I have a queen. But I’m willing to try to make it work for Kate Spade.
A super successful shopping trip!
Ahh, Sunday mornings. Slept in, then a quick coconut water, pineapple, blueberry smoothie and a Trader Joe’s five seed almond bar and a few minutes of last night’s SNL before an invigorating yoga class.
The perfect way to spend a Sunday morning and get focused on the week ahead.
After working in a cave for 8 years (it was just a regular old office, but it felt like a cave), I now have a desk with a window and perks like Valentine day cupcakes and office swag presents. It really is the little things. Happy Valentine’s Day to me!
I also came home to a Valentine’s surprise from my mum and this month’s Birchbox. I hope everyone is having a great Valentine’s Day.
Blah, blah, blah. What a wasted weekend. I had been looking forward to a busy few days of dancing, shopping, and a concert, but instead I spent three days housebound trying to get over a cold that hit me on Wednesday afternoon. But instead of getting better, it’s gotten worse over the past two days. Apparently lots of rest, hot tea, and chicken noodle soup do not cure a the world’s worst sore throat, those remedies just make you start sneezing and give you a head cold. Blerg. I’m hoping a miracle occurs, and I wake up feeling better tomorrow, but I think I have a other day or so until this thing runs its course.
I’m most upset that after a great January of working out and eating, I haven’t had any activity (except for shoveling snow, which sucks when it’s freezing out and you are sick; luckily we had very little accumulation) since Wednesday. I hope i can make it to yoga on Tuesday and then back to my AM workouts the day after. Besides the homemade chicken soup, I’ve been eating Amy’s frozen pizza and ice cream. And a few Girl Scout cookies that I bought from the cutest door to door salesman on Sunday afternoon. She had a wagon filled with them! I had no choice, I had to buy some! I was too lazy to cook. Double blerg.
I did get to indulge in a marathon of wedding themed Friends episodes on TBS, and some new movies, The Giant Mechanical Man and Celeste and Jesse Forever. Both good. Both also starring Chris Messina and Rich Sommer. Random. Now I’m going to fall asleep to the Grammy’s and hope for a better week.
